The following position is a part of IBM Canada’s EPIC (Employment Pathways to Interns & Co-ops) Student Program. These outstanding entry-level IT, sales, and corporate positions are limited to students registered in a Canadian University or College co-op or internship program, who have completed a minimum of 2 years of their degree or diploma program, and who will be returning to full-time study upon the completion of the temporary IBM workterm.

The IBM Toronto Laboratory is one of the largest software development sites in IBM and one of the largest R&D facilities in Canada. A dynamic team of over 2,000 highly skilled professionals, who develop, test, service and market our products, are among the most talented in the industry. The Lab has world-wide missions within IBM for database management, application development tools, network computing applications and banking solutions. These products are used across all IBM systems (i.e. personal computers, iSeries RISC systems, pSeries systems, z-Series mainframe systems), and many other non-IBM platforms, such as Linux, HP-UX, Sun Solaris and Windows XP/2000/NT/ME/98.

The Application Development Technology Center builds key application development environments and tools including Compilers for Java/C/C++/Fortran, Debuggers, Profilers, Editors, Code Generators, and numerous application development tools for Web and XML! The ADTC has been responsible for the release of such award-winning products as VisualAge for Java and VisualAge C++, and is now developing the award-winning Eclipse-based WebSphere Studio suite of products.

You will be involved in the development of new internet related tools for the iSeries system. The development may involve the use of other new technologies such as XML, XSL, JSPs, Java, and the latest Web development techniques. This job provides the opportunity to work within a development team and with product designers. This job will give you a chance to showcase your programming skills but may also require you to participate in testing the new tools.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Strong Java programming skills
- Knowledge of Web development technology
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Students applying to this posting must be registered in a co-op or internship program for the length of the placement
- Minimum one completed work term
- This position is intended for senior-level undergraduate students who will be returning to full-time study upon completion of the internship/co-op term
