LOOKING FOR THE BEST POSSIBLE INTERNSHIP FOR SUMMER 2006? IBM’s entrepreneurial Extreme Blue program will exceed your expectations.

For the third year of Extreme Blue in Canada there will be six project teams, involving all of IBM Canada’s software development labs: Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Victoria. Three teams will be hosted in Toronto and three in Ottawa.

Join one of these teams (each with three technical students and one MBA student), take ownership of a real emerging business opportunity for IBM, and prove it will work. Collaborate across IBM divisions, locations and product teams. Build the technology and the business case.

BUSINESS INTERN: 6 positions
- MBA student at Canadian university
- focus on business case, market research, customer interaction

TECHNICAL INTERN: 18 positions
- computer science or engineering student aiming for a software development career
- focus on technical concept development and rapid prototyping

This is the opportunity to showcase and supercharge your skills. Mentored by top IBM technical and business leaders, and supported by IBM research, development, communications and media design experts worldwide: you own the results. Meet with IBM executives almost every week to hone the technology and your pitch, and then take it on the road to Extreme Blue Expo where you will demo and present to IBM senior executives. You will be matched to the projects most suited to your unique combination of skills and experience, and you will then be interviewed by the project team. You will know what you will be doing and where you will be going before you need to make a decision. Here are some concepts in the works:

Develop technology to improve Java startup performance based on promising new optimization concepts.

Create a new database programming paradigm based on Ruby on Rails.

Meld secure digital forms technology and advanced workflow into a state-of-the-art visual business integration environment.

Develop new capabilities for advanced services and provisioning of IT systems.
